Average customer review:

Blasting off where the Sci-Fi Channelâ??s longest running show, Stargate SG-1, left off, this thrilling feature thrusts the Stargate team â?" Daniel Jackson (Michael Shanks), Vala (Claudia Black), Tealâ??c (Christopher Judge), Sam (Amanda Tapping) and Cam (Ben Browder) â?" into their biggest challenge yet. In search of an Ancient artifact they hope can defeat the oppressive Ori, the team not only learns that the Ori are set to launch a final assault on Earth, but a double-crossing I.O. operative is aboard the Odyssey! Also starring Beau Bridges, this pulse-pounder is loaded with enough suspense, humor and action to fill a galaxy!

Old-school SG1 4
SG1 will never win major awards however it does deliver to its fan base which in the end is what it is all about. In this particular installment the Ori (the guys with snakes in their chests have been wiped out if you haven't been keeping up) are regrouping for a major offensive and it is up to SG1 to take a stand against them.

Overall-Great for what it is a few good oneliners and our old friends the replicators even have a cameo.

A wonderful journey!5
This is the real deal. The original series and a wonderful journey into creative story telling science fiction.
As a kid I was not allowed to see this show. Too "scary" I guess. But I was able to sneek in a couple of episodes when the sitter was watching us. I never forgot what a show it was. So now I have the whole set and it is a treasure to watch. In all it's wonderful black and white tight, artistic stories and camera work. Who cares if it was low tech, frankly that made it even scarier! For hard core fans you must get the Outer Limits Companion by David J. Schow. There you will find the behind the scenes info and pictures on all the episodes and how it was born by creative gurus Leslie Stevens and Joseph Stefano. For any creative type you will appreciate the determination by this team to get it on the air and fight for budget and script quality. Add this to your collection of classics.I have viewed most episodes and the disc quality has improved over other OL collections of the past. You are about to participate in a great adventure!

NotoriousNotorious
From MGM (Video & DVD)
Average customer review:

The daughter of a traitor is coerced by a handsome governemnt agent into renewing an old friendship with a suspected nazi sympathizer in south america during wwii. Studio: Tcfhe/mgm Release Date: 02/10/2009 Starring: Cary Grant Claude Rains Run time: 130 minutes Director: Alfred Hitchcock

One of Alfred Hitchcock's classics, this romantic thriller features a cast to kill for: Ingrid Bergman, Cary Grant, and Claude Rains. Bergman plays the daughter of a disgraced father who is recruited by American agents to infiltrate a post-World War II spy ring in Brazil. Her control agent is Grant, who treats her with disdain while developing a deep romantic bond with her. Her assignment: to marry the suspected head of the ring (Rains) and get the goods on everyone involved. Danger, deceit, betrayal--and, yes, romance--all come together in a nearly perfect blend as the film builds to a terrific (and surprising) climax. Grant and Bergman rarely have been better. --Marshall Fine

I had been looking for this movie for years on DVD. The only ones I could find were the Criterion Collection that were outrageously priced. Finally it has been released with an affordable price. Great sound and picture, classic Hitchcock!!

The TerminatorThe Terminator
Directed by James Cameron
Average customer review:

This is the film that cemented Schwarzenegger's spot in the action-brawn firmament, and it was well deserved. He's chilling as the futuristic cyborg who kills without fear, without love, without mercy. James Cameron's story and direction are pared to the bone and all the more creepy. But don't overlook the contributions of Linda Hamilton, who more than holds her own as the Terminator's would-be victim, Sarah Connor--thus creating, along with Sigourney Weaver in Alien, a new generation of rugged, clear-thinking female action stars. It's surprising how well this film holds up, and how its minimalist, malevolent violence is actually way scarier than that of its far more expensive, more effects-laden sequel. --Anne Hurley

Excellent Sci-fi, action movie!!!4
This movie is a great movie with nice action, decent effects, great actors, and an excellent, although very confusing story line. This movie is the oldest movie of James Cameron's that I know, and it is amazing. It is probably my favorite James Cameron movie. The Titanic was pretty good, but it doesn't beat this. the three TTTs of James Cameron. Terminator, Terminator 2 Judgement Day, and Titanic.

The notorious Wet Bandits, Harry and Marv (Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern), still smarting from their last encounter with Kevin, are bound for New York too, plotting a huge holiday heist. Kevin's ready to welcome them with a battery of booby traps the bumbling bandits will never forget!

Another Christmas Favorite!!!4
Ever since I was a kid, I've loved the 'Home Alone' series! This is a really good sequel! A year after Kevin stopped Harry and Marv, he gets on the wrong plane and heads to New York, while his family goes to Florida. Harry and Marv broke out of prison, and they happen to be in New York too. Kevin uses his dad's Credit Card to stay at the Plaza Hotel. When the staff scare him away, he tries to visit his relatives, but they are not home. Kevin runs into Harry and Marv who plan to rob a toy store where all the money will go to the Children's Hospital. Kevin sets up the traps again at his uncles' house and chaos ensues, and with the help of the 'bird lady' a showdown happens in Central Park. If you love the original, you'll love HOME ALONE 2: LOST IN NEW YORK!!!

Road HouseRoad House
Directed by Rowdy Herrington
Average customer review:

Patrick Swayze stars in this sexy, "violent tough-guy thriller" (Fort Worth Star-Telegram) from the producer of Die Hard and The Matrix. Co-starring Ben Gazzara (The Thomas Crown Affair), Kelly Lynch (Charlie's Angels) and Sam Elliott (We Were Soldiers), Road House delivers no-holds-barred action that pushes the envelope for high-octane thrills! Swayze is Dalton, a legendary bouncer who comes to Jasper, Missouri, for a special purpose: to restore order at the notorious Double Deuce bar. In one spectacular fight after another, Dalton rids the bar of thugs and henchmen. But when he runs afoul of a ruthless crime boss (Gazzara) who controls the town, the stage is set for a blistering showdown that'll leave only one man standing!

Customer Reviews

A Real Classic5
Roadhouse is one of those movies that everyone should take time out to watch. Patrick Swayze is great as Dalton, the philosphical but redoutable bouncer. Crusty Sam Elliott is great, as is beautiful Kelly Lynch as the small town doctor. And iconic actor Ben Gazzara gives one of his best performances as a sociopathic heel who has enough money to think he can run roughshod over the town's decent folks. With its simple, pared-down plot and the gorgeous stars populating its sets, Roadhouse sort of harkens back to the old Elvis Presely movies of the sixties, where the King would play an ordinary, but talented guy who was quick with his fists caught up in an escalating situation. Swayze shows the same type of charisma in this performance. Elvis's former bodyguard and best friend Red West even has a roll in the film as well. The fight scenes are fabulous and there's just enough plot and drama to elevate the movie to one of the best B-movie martial arts films ever. Swayze had the moves, and his line, "Nobody wins a fight" lends just the right amount of poignancy at just the right time. If you haven't seen Roadhouse, do so post haste. If you have seen it, perhaps it's time to revisit the old place. Dalton will be waiting for you.

Never Say Never AgainNever Say Never Again
Directed by Irvin Kershner
Average customer review:

After years of enduring Roger Moore in the role of James Bond, it was good to have Sean Connery back in this 1983 film for a one-time-only trip down 007's memory lane. Connery's Bond, a bit of a dinosaur in the British secret service at (then) 52, is still in demand during times of crisis. Sadly, the film is not very good. In this rehash of Thunderball, Bond is pitted against a worthy underwater villain (Klaus Maria Brandauer); and while the requisite Bond Girls include beauties Kim Basinger and Barbara Carrera, they can't save the movie. The script has several truly dumb passages, among them a (gasp) video-game duel between 007 and his nemesis that now looks utterly anachronistic. For Connery fans, however, this widescreen print of the Irvin Kershner (The Empire Strikes Back) film is a chance to say a final goodbye to a perfect marriage of actor and character. --Tom Keogh

Although this James Bond film doesn't get the credit of being one, this is an awesome 007 movie! Sean Connery and his costars Kim Basinger and Barbara Carrera are stunning as usual. Great film. Sure to be a pleaser if you have not yet seen it.

The Last WaltzThe Last Waltz
Directed by Martin Scorsese
Average customer review:

Martin Scorsese's 1978 capsule history of the Band is mixed with footage of the group's allegedly last performance (certainly their last performance as a quintet) in this particularly stylish concert film. Scorsese shoots the players and their sundry guests with the same flair and enthusiasm one can see in the later The Color of Money or Goodfellas. He also proves a good interviewer with Band members, particularly Robbie Robertson, whose sleepy-sexy good looks make a star-caliber impression in close-up. But the film's real hook is the stage show, which features a rotation of rock legends (Van Morrison, Joni Mitchell, Paul Butterfield, Bob Dylan, and so on) playing with the Band before a wildly appreciative audience. --Tom Keogh

DVD features
For its 25th anniversary, The Last Waltz received a meticulous color-corrected new film transfer approved by director Martin Scorsese and a new digital 5.1 surround audio mix supervised by producer Robbie Robertson, better known as the Band's chief songwriter and guitarist. The DVD adds a crisp anamorphic digital transfer and a clutch of additional features that represent satisfying enhancements to this superb concert documentary. Two full-length audio commentaries tacitly acknowledge the schisms within the surviving membership of the Band: on the first, Scorsese and Robertson deconstruct the film and its production, while the second taps Band drummer Levon Helm and organist Garth Hudson, along with erstwhile mentor Ronnie Hawkins, pop gospel veteran Mavis Staples, and various crew members. A featurette offers new interviews with Robertson and Scorsese, and fans will relish extended "jam footage" of previously unreleased performances by members of the Band, Dr. John, Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton, Paul Butterfield, Ron Wood, Stephen Stills, and Neil Young, although the footage itself never approaches the passion or coherence of the film's best songs. DVD enthusiasts disappointed at the lack of more audio bonuses should pick up the companion restoration of the movie's soundtrack, expanded to four CDs to contain a wealth of previously unreleased performances from the historic 1976 concert. --Sam Sutherland

Fight Club (Two-Disc Collector's Edition)Fight Club (Two-Disc Collector's Edition)
Directed by David Fincher
Average customer review:

A grunge rhapsody on fascist, sadomasochistic, and homoerotic themes. Edward Norton's alienated office worker becomes the protégé of Brad Pitt, a happy-go-lucky warrior who vanquishes the inner nerd in other men (in a high point of generosity, he pours acid on Norton's hand). Since the two men enjoy brawling in the street, they open up an organization they call "fight club," in which other alienated men happily beat, gouge, and batter one another. Soon there are fight clubs all over the country and groups of proudly lacerated believers who recognize one another by their purple bruises. The director, David Fincher, attains a mood of sardonic disaffection; the camera is rambunctious and alive, the lighting viciously dark. But this fantasia, for all its skill, is ridiculous and even boring. We're meant to take the male bonding and the blood rituals as a protest against the sterility of corporate life and modern design, but Fincher's sadomasochistic kicks overwhelm any possible social critique. With Helena Bonham Carter, a tiny, pale Expressionist vamp, who sleeps with the two men-a beard, as it were. Written by Jim Uhls, from the novel by Chuck Palahniuk. -David Denby

favoloso!!!!!!!!!!5

The Day the Earth Stood Still (Two-Disc Special Edition)The Day the Earth Stood Still (Two-Disc Special Edition)
From 20th Century Fox
Average customer review:

A hallmark of the science fiction genre as well as a wry commentary on the political climate of the 1950s, The Day the Earth Stood Still is a sci-fi movie less concerned with special effects than with a social parable. A spacecraft lands in Washington, D.C., carrying a humanoid messenger from another world (Michael Rennie) imparting a warning to the people of Earth to cease their violent behavior. But panic ensues as the messenger lands and is shot by a nervous soldier. His large robot companion destroys the Capitol as the messenger escapes the confines of the hospital. He moves in with a family as a boarder and blends into society to observe the full range of the human experience. Director Robert Wise (West Side Story) not only provides one of the most recognizable icons of the science fiction world in his depiction of the massive robot loyal to his master, but he avoids the obvious camp elements of the story to create a quiet and observant story highlighting both the good and the bad in human nature. --Robert Lane

First Class "Day"5
Where to begin on this sparkling 2-disc version of the 1951 hit, "The Day the Earth Stood Still"? The nicest thing about the film itself (apart from the gorgeous print) was the 5.1 surround sound. Heard thru a decent speaker system, it's really very well done.

The only thing I felt was unnecessary was the inclusion of the trailer for the '08 (and only adequate) version of the film. (If they had put it at the end of the film, I would have no objections, nor will I probably ever take a look at this '08 film. I have too much respect for the '51 film to see the other version.)

The extras are well done, with a couple of interviews with surviving cast members, an audio reading of the Harry Bates short story that inspired the film, and a couple of "how we did it" short flms.

In short, this is the ONE version to have. I got rid of my previous DVD when I saw this one.

I, Robot (Widescreen Edition)I, Robot (Widescreen Edition)
Directed by Alex Proyas
Average customer review:

It's Will Smith versus the machines in this extremely loose adaptation of a series of Isaac Asimov stories. Directed by the fantasist Alex Proyas ("Dark City," "The Crow"), the movie is a C.G.I. extravaganza, full of gleaming surfaces and moody lighting in the manner of Edward Hopper. The robots themselves have beautiful ice-blue eyes, and the Chicago cityscapes have a "Blade Runner"-like intricacy. The studly Smith (he has a swoon-inducing shower scene) suspects that one of the latest models of a new robot line has committed murder, and the plot becomes a succession of chases that are progressively exciting. There's not much in the way of clever dialogue (the dreaded Akiva Goldsman had a hand in the script), but Proyas has a real facility for this kind of speculative storytelling. -Bruce Diones

'I, Robot' features very good quality 1080p/AVC-encoded transfer,I may as well begin at the opening titles and the real kicker is how pristine the image actually is.It's quite simply delivers one of the best transfers I've ever seen.I couldn't believe how realistic it all sounded. Just listen to the pouncing robots, the engines throttling against the road.

The Day After Tomorrow (Widescreen Edition)The Day After Tomorrow (Widescreen Edition)
Directed by Roland Emmerich
Average customer review:

A cautionary tale disguised as a disaster flick. Roland Emmerich, who gave us aggressive aliens in "Independence Day" and unhelpfully large lizards in "Godzilla," has turned his attention to global warming-a foe so unsatisfying that you can't even shoot it down. Jack Hall (Dennis Quaid) is a climatologist who realizes, as a slice of the polar ice cap slides into the sea, that the end of the world (or, at any rate, of that half of the world that drives S.U.V.s) is nigh. Needless to say, nobody believes him until it's too late, by which time Los Angeles is being danced upon by tornadoes and New York is doing a convincing impersonation of a frozen Daiquiri. Millions perish, but that is not the problem. The problem is that Jack, based in Washington, needs badly to bond with his moony son (Jake Gyllenhaal), who is sitting tight in the New York Public Library with plenty to read and a cozy fellow-student (Emmy Rossum) to keep him warm. Meanwhile, the rest of the population is hurrying south to Mexico. The special effects rely less on credibility than on bombast, and the whole project is so dumb, ill-written, and condescending that it may become counterproductive, with viewers fleeing the cinema and vowing never to recycle again. With Ian Holm, stranded in every sense.-A.L. (6/7/04) -Anthony Lane

Great Story Line!4
I absolutely loved this movie! The plot was fantastic, and it was exciting to watch it unfold. The acting was the only thing that stopped me from giving it five stars, with a few of the actors giving subpar performances.

Overall, it was a very unique story and played out very well with the special effects and the political undertones. Definitely worth the money!

Have fun!
