Seven Year Itch Trailer

A married man, left alone throughout a hot summer, fantasizes madly concerning the impossibly beautiful lady living within the upstairs apartment. When the girl is Marilyn Monroe, such fantasies are the things of epics, and therefore the Seven Year Itch could be a memorable laugh machine. Tom Ewell, repeating his role from George Axelrod's Broadway hit, plays the itchy protagonist, whose vivid imagination gets the higher of him. When Monroe finally comes downstairs and becomes friends (confiding, among alternative things, that she keeps her lingerie within the icebox during this hot weather), imagination meets reality in a very merciless attack on the male libido. Ewell's crack timing is matched by Monroe's zesty comic aptitude, and therefore the scene within which her white dress is blown skyward by a passing subway train has entered the encyclopedia of nice movie pictures. Director Billy Wilder custom-made the play with Axelrod; if the film isn't one among Wilder's signature works (Some am fond of it Hot and therefore the Apartment would soon follow), it's nevertheless a smoothly crafted comedy.
